The Theatre Arts Department recognizes students with outstanding theatrical ability who have demonstrated interest in theatre arts in their high schools and communities and who are also considering the pursuit of the theatre arts major at Furman University.
The department has a small number of scholarships for incoming freshmen. These awards range upward from $10,000 per year. Scholarships are not automatically renewed. All recipients are expected to take classes in the Theatre Arts Department and work on departmental productions. Students who receive scholarships at the highest levels will be expected to major in Theatre Arts and participate in all departmental recruiting events.
Students who would like to be considered for the Theatre Arts Scholarship must complete the following application and have an audition/interview on either November 21 or February 20 with at least two members of the Theatre Arts faculty. Students should prepare two contrasting pieces not to exceed two minutes in total length. Please plan to spend most of the day on campus for your audition. We will provide lunch and tickets to a performance on the night of the audition for you and one family member. If you have any conflicts, we will consider alternate dates on a case-by-case basis. Please contact Claire Garst, Assistant Director of Admission and Coordinator of Fine Arts Recruitment at email@example.com if you have a scheduling conflict.
