Common Mistakes to Avoid When Completing the FAFSA:

Using incorrect student or parent information. Be sure to answer questions for the individual identified in each section of the FAFSA.
Failing to provide required contributor information and consent. Parents, spouses, or other contributors must complete their required sections and provide consent when requested.
Not reviewing the FAFSA before submission. Double-check names, Social Security Numbers, dates of birth, and financial information to help avoid processing delays or the need for corrections later.
Using the wrong tax year information. Financial aid applications are tax-year specific. The 2026–2027 FAFSA uses 2024 tax information, while the 2027–2028 FAFSA will use 2025 tax information.

If You Are Requesting an Early Financial Aid Estimate Before October 1 of the Student's Senior Year of High School:
Complete the 2026–2027 FAFSA using the required 2024 tax information and submit the Early Financial Aid Estimate Request.

Because this estimate is based on FAFSA data and information available at the time of review, it is intended for planning purposes only and does not guarantee aid eligibility or award amounts. An official financial aid offer can be determined only after admission and receipt of all required financial aid information.

If You Are Requesting an Early Financial Aid Estimate On or After October 1 of the Student's Senior Year of High School:
Complete the 2027–2028 FAFSA using the required 2025 tax information and submit the Early Financial Aid Estimate Request.

All students seeking need-based financial aid will be required to complete the 2027–2028 FAFSA to receive an official financial aid offer if admitted to Furman University.

To receive my early financial aid estimate for Early Decision consideration, I understand I must fulfill the following requirements:

If you intend to apply for admission with your SAT or ACT test score information included, you will be asked to provide a copy of your Score Report, as well. Upload an Unofficial High School Transcript, reflecting performance from 9th grade through end of 11th grade using the link below. Transcripts provided that do not show performance through end of junior year cannot be evaluated.
